About the Author

Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942) was born in Canada, on Prince Edward Island. Her mother died when she was two years old, and she went to live with her grandmother and grandfather on their farm. She wrote her first book, Anne of Green Gables, in 1908, and it was an immediate success.
